Every reason to look pleased with themselves!
"Wow! The race of the championships, Western Isles get BRONZE!!! Absolutely breathtaking performance from the boys. Phenomenal performance from the 4 x 400m, all of them left it out on the track and deserve their medal. They don't come around easy! The boys have just received their medals. Their splits were: Cameron 51.8, Stuart 51.3, Murdo 51.1 and Donnie 48.4." said Corky. Full Result

Eilidh looking very relaxed in the 800m
Eilidh Mackenzie set a new Games record time of 2:11:55 in an incredible neck and neck finish with Shetland's Emma Leask. Unfortutely the ecstacy only lasted a few minutes! After a review of an incident in the last 50m, Eilidh was disqualified and the race awarded to Emma. Full Result
Donnie flies out the blocks
Donnie Macleod missed out an a medal this time finishing in 7th spot (50.59s). The winning time was a very impressive 46.71 - way inside Donnie's PB so Gold was always going to be a big ask. He should be well pleased with the way he has performed this week - this was his 6th race in 5 days and he still has the 4x400 to come! Full Result

Donnie Macleod
Donnie Macleod was again the fastest qualifier for the final (49.89s) - but only just! The two other heat winners were both under 50s and 6 others under 51s - I think its fair to say that the final looks like being a fantastic race! Cameron Ross had a strong run but his 7th place finish (52.84s) means he does not qualify for the final. Full Result

Stewart finished in fourth place in his heat to qualify for tomorrow's semi but looks like Pat missed out. He finished 6th in his heat and his time of 12.31 isn't good enough to earn a fastest loser slot. Full Result |

What a fantastic start for Team WIIGA but not without some controversy!
Originally Isle of Wight were placed third (same points score as WI and although they had the higher placed runner their combined time was less than W)I. Result was changed and Western Isles Doleen Galbraith 1:32:13 and Kirsty Haxby 1:33:44 have won the bronze medal. Shona Morrison unfortunately did not finish.
Eve Carrington missed out on Bronze by just 17cm finishing in that unlucky 4th spot. Full result

Willie Macrury keeping the sponsors happy!
